Birth
Malachai's origin is a tale woven with threads of hardship and estrangement. Born to a Marcher elf mother who toiled as a slave within the confines of a noble household, his existence was marked by legitimacy but shadowed by the stigma of ostracization. His mother, a figure shunned by society, was scarcely a presence in his life; her departure swift after his birth, leaving behind only a handful of gold as a parting gift.
Training
Raised amidst the opulent yet cold halls of privilege, Malachai's upbringing was entrusted to the indifferent care of household servants, his father, distant and disengaged, leaving the shaping of his son's character to others. It was under the guidance of his mentor, Bhaal, that Malachai found semblance of familial connection. His mentorship molded Malachai into a disciplined and skilled warrior, blending arcanic studies with rigorous martial and tactical training. Though born of lowly origins, Bhaal had ascended to prominence as a renowned martial mage, imparting upon his protege a unique blend of prowess and wisdom.
War Hero
In the crucible of battle, Malachai's talents blossomed. His entropic magic, a force of chaos wielded with precision, proved instrumental in toppling adversaries, particularly the formidable Qunari. His resilience shone through in dire circumstances, often prevailing against formidable foes with scarce resources. One notable feat included reclaiming a vital Tevene position and rescuing trapped forces during a fierce battle.
Inheriting a position from his ailing father, whose masked visage concealed a wasting condition, Malachai continued to ascend. The mask, now a symbol of his newfound responsibilities, became a tangible link to his familial legacy. Recognizing his achievements, the Archon elevated Malachai to a coveted position within his personal guard after successful engagements against rival factions.
The Eyes
As his influence grew, Malachai found himself immersed in the shadowy machinations of Tevinter's power struggles. Tasked with expanding boundaries and thwarting rival factions, he became an instrumental figure in the Archon's quest for supremacy. However, the lines between loyalty and personal gain blurred when his former mentor, Bhaal, aligned with the Venatori. Malachai, ordered to eliminate his once-trusted mentor, began questioning the his own motives and started accumulating power for himself.
During periods of political turmoil, Malachai silently amassed influence, earning a position within the Eyes—a reward for years of unwavering service. However, the newfound responsibility weighed heavily on him, as he delved into the murky underbelly of Tevinter's society. Paranoia gripped him as he oversaw the changes sweeping the nation and implemented the stringent law of the Eyes.
As time passes, Malachai's concerns deepens. The fate of his pawns outside the shadows and the ominous developments surrounding the Barrier have became pressing issues, hinting at a turbulent future for the ambitious mage.
