Born Ignacious Alastor Daedalus Icarius the IV, Iggy was groomed early for the family's illustrious legacy. Raised on the ideals of tradition and the presevation of the Imperium from all changes, the cracks his clan's plans for them emerged early; he would quickly prove a child of endless "why?"-s, never satisfied with his elders' answers initially out of curiosity and then quickly out of frustration. As childhood turned to teenage angst, the disconnect between him and his family would only grow, with them distancing him from their politics with increasing sequestration and him growing to embrace anything besides them he could; unpopular books, natural studies, the arts, anything. As he reached adulthood, it was clear to everyone (including himself) that Iggy had no life ahead in politics.

So as his mandatory military service came due, Iggy relished the chance to get away from the Icarius's. They, for their part, did only so much to find him a suitable rank and position; a master of quartermasters, bound to balance troop ledgers and inventories in service of the troops in the field. Despite the job tending well to his skills, Iggy’s attitude would remain negative, the joy of crunching numbers and casting minor spells paltry comfort to a life of military regiment and strict discipline. He would stymie his own excellence repeatedly, only ever putting in enough work to pass muster, never so much as to be noticed, flying under the radar. When his 2 years came up, Iggy would flee the service so quickly that what few friends he’d made would wake up to simply find him gone, bunk clear, work left unfinished.

Freer than he’d been his whole life and disillusioned with life in Tevinter entirely, Iggy would coast until the barrier's falling would stir him for the first time in his life. He'd quickly settle on a simple goal; to wander the wild world beyond his home, and to see what passions he could find elsewhere. To say the Icarius family took his desires poorly would be an understatement; what had formerly been discomfort and excuses from his kin would quickly sour into disdain and outright contempt, the family wanting nothing to do with the son that clearly didn’t want them. Things would only solidify when, one night, Iggy would become possessed by a sleep so heavy that he wouldn’t awaken for days, a Sloth spirit simply naming itself “Idle” taking root in his body and settling in. Declaring him a lost cost, the Icarius’s would hand him a full purse with their sigil ripped off and give him a firm demand; take it and go, and don’t return for a good, long while. Perfectly happy with both conditions, Iggy would set out, leaving the country in secret for pastures unknown.

TIMELINE

Appearance

Lanky and unassuming, Iggy is not a figure one would not single out of a crowd. His posture, forever a little slumped, betrays a relaxed, neutral expression most times, the man's face often looking like he's mentally a million miles away. But then there will be reminders of his sharpness; a twitch of his lips in a small smile highlighting his cheeks, or a flick of his piercing blue eyes, or the deliberate but measured movements he'll make just walking or motioning with a hand during speech. It's all cloaked in earthen tones that are always just slightly too nice for a man of his purported means, with fresh tunics with no holes to common robes that lack any smell or fraying.

Personality

Iggy is a kind enough man who is altogether not too concerned with others. Laissez faire and content to walk his own path, he's rarely looking for validation or even input; he'll never shun it, but he's unafraid to simply walk away from conversations or shrug in response to comments. Self-assured, his only real concern is in finding his own way and getting others to understand it as such. An insult about his present self or his methods will bounce off with no fuss. An insult about his past life or accusing him of being a copy-cat will often find what rage lies in him. That's few and far between from his laughs, finding joy in odd places like numbers and natural systems. He's never happier than when his mind is buried in a book to sort figures, or sifting through the countryside in search of some rare arboreal, or even just loaded into a wagon estimating how long their trip will take.
