Grew up in Orlais.
His mother was the court mage at the time, who fell in love with a noble. A secret affair ensued, which resulted in her getting pregnant. They were sure that her standing with the court would allow her to keep the kid once it was born. Sadly tragedy would befall them. Gabe’s twin Etienne was stillborn and once Gabe was born, Gen did not survive the childbirth. Leaving Constantin to raise Gabe all on his own.
Constantin would take to calling Gabe, Killer, because in Constantin’s mind Gabe was the reason that Gen and Etienne were both dead. He was a shit dad as a result, always drunk and often taking his anger out on Gabe.
Constantin was free of Gabe after Gabe turned seven and showed signs of magic. He was immediately shipped off to the Circle without a single hesitation, Constantin was glad to be rid of his son and wrote him off after that.
Gabe has always showed an aptitude for dealing with spirits and demons and when it came time for his harrowing, passed with flying colours.
At the age of twenty, Gabe was assigned to training young mages for their harrowing. Something he immediately took to, finding satisfaction in helping mages during a very troubling and stressful time.
At the age of twenty-three a young mage in his care went for their harrowing, and she failed. She became an abomination and the Templars in charge were forced to kill her. He tries to take out the Templars but is pushed back. He’s put in the cells for lashing out against them for a number of months until the Templars felt sure that Gabe was back to his old self, or so they thought.
For the most part Gabe did his best to ‘play nice’ with the templars, but the guilt over what had happened was eating him alive. When the mage/templar war broke out, the second Gabe was able to get away from the Circle, he did and didn’t look back.
Ever since then he’s been a demon hunter for hire, doing his best to dodge templars when necessary. When the veil fell he’s had more than enough work to keep him busy, but then he only cares about the demons with desire to take people over.

Personality
Gabe is known for his endless cynicism, deadpan wit, ruthless cunning, and constant chain smoking; but he is also a passionate humanitarian driven by a heartfelt desire to do some good in his life. A notorious con man and grifter with a past that has a body count, Gabe's moral compass is as grey as can be. His sharp tongue and biting humor often serve as a shield, keeping others at a distance while he navigates a world that he views with a weary, skeptical eye.
Despite his questionable past and often dubious motives, Gabe possesses a deep-seated desire to make a positive impact. His cynicism masks a profound disillusionment with the world, but also a flicker of hope that things can be better. His actions are often driven by a complex mix of self-interest and genuine concern for others, making him a paradoxical figure who can be both infuriating and inspiring.
