Civilians have five different archetypes to choose from:
Academic
Medic
Engineer
Labourer
Creative
As civilians, there are a number of different archetypes they can choose from. Their first archetype must be linked to their profession, e.g. Academic could be one of their archetypes, your foci would then represent their primary profession, e.g. professor, archaeologist, etc. Other foci and archetypes can be chosen based on hobbies and interests.
There are a number of ways you can consider a character experienced enough in an archetype to count it as their profession:
Formal schooling (e.g. University of Orlais)
Apprenticing under a professional
Being taught by a family member
Self-taught (we aren’t going to get super picky about training, but just be realistic - if your character has baked two pies in their entire lives and they burnt half of them, they're probably not a baker)
Below you can find information about the different foci each archetype contains. Remember, you can only choose 4 foci per archetype. If your desired job isn't listed, don't worry! We couldn't possibly list all professions. Just PM a staff member and we can add it to the list.
