The morning light filtered through the lavish curtains, casting a gentle glow over the luxurious bedroom. Coco stirred in the soft embrace of the sheets, her surroundings slowly coming into focus. As her eyes fluttered open, the first thing that greeted her vision was Devante, her head resting on his bare chest. At first, Coco was a bit disoriented, rubbing her eyes in a gesture of waking clarity. Taking a few deep breaths to steady herself, she let the reality of the moment sink in. That's when it hit her—the events of the night before. Her cheeks flushed heavily as the memories flooded into her heart...they had sex.
Oh no no no...
A cascade of thoughts flooded Coco's mind as she grappled with the realization. She hadn't anticipated taking such a step with Devante, despite their engagement. A sense of vulnerability washed over her, realizing she might have let her guard down in her quest to...understand him better to say the least. Glancing to the side at the dresser, she noted the absence of any telltale signs of wine glasses or alcohol. The clarity of her decisions settled in; this was a choice made with a clear mind....she knew that she should've demanded a separate room for their travels.
S...Shit, Coco mumbled under her breath. Lifting the sheets to cover herself, a mixture of embarrassment and self-reflection painted her expression. What was wrong with her?! Weren't they supposed to wait until their wedding night..? Clearly some temptations got the best of them. Devante, wake up...Please.
Devante had never expected to enjoy his time with the girl. She was a target, and he was on the job... but his heart didn't seem to get that. He'd started to slack; he'd brought her to Antiva City while he had business here. She'd stay in chambers in the palaces lower quarters, until his business was finished.
He had not expected there to only be one bed in the room they were given, though. Nor had he expected her to make the first move. She'd seemed so sure; not that he'd checked overly thoroughly, lost in the moment as he'd been.
And when she woke the next morning, her voice did not stir him, not until she said his name. She was pleading with him to wake up, and he rolled over, confused. Peering up at her, wrapped in the sheets, What's wrong? It wasn't stupidly early, but it was earlier than he'd like to be awake.
Coco couldn’t help but furrow her eyebrows and then grabbed her pillow, throwing it right on top of Devante’s face. What do you mean what is wrong?! Do you not see-…crap, please tell me you remember something-anything from last night. She asked desperately as she ran a hand down her face, she wasn’t sure whether the redness on her cheeks was because of the fact that she was sort of pissed off or because she was nude beside him.
Taking a deep breath, Coco forced herself to maintain a steady voice in order to explain. Why…why don’t I have any clothes on, Dante? She asked quietly while peeking underneath the sheets.
The pillow his him square in the face, and he scowled into the fabric, claiming it to rest his head on, while he stayed laying down, staring at her. 'course I remember. You made the first move, practically undressed me, he smirked up at her, brown eyes wandering appreciatively over her sheet-covered form.
And after, you fell asleep before pulling anything on. He'd pulled on shorts, unwilling to sleep entirely nude lest he need to get out of bed to defend himself. It was probably her only saving grace at the moment, the way her cheeks were flushed.
You made sweet little sounds, he purred, more amused than anything at her reaction.
What?! I did not-I could not! Coco exclaimed defensively, she genuinely couldn’t believe that she had done that. She had that cute pout on her face as usual, her freckled cheeks only growing hotter. I don’t know why you sound so cool about this in the first place, we were supposed to wait until the wedding night.
Coco mumbled out before realizing what she had said and shaking her head. I mean-…if I agreed to a wedding. That is when we were…supposed to do it. She cleared her throat and confidently lifted up her head. Honestly, I put the blame on you-even if I did come onto you first you should have a sense of duty as First Talon, no? Why didn’t you deny me?-it takes two to have sex you know.
Coco smirked, I mean I am the Crown Princess…I would expect someone that serves royalty would know the protocol of bedding someone with such a title. Unlesssss you’ve already been with a royal before in the past-that’s the only way your confidence could be explained..
Devante's lips pulled into a smirk. Ah, you're adorable with your ideals. She was pouting, and blushed, and he couldn't help but grin. A boyish grin, that left laugh lines on his features.
Then she began to pin it on him, and he laughed. Ah, Coco. My duty as First Talon is to ensure you have a reason to wed me. Nothing more. And there were rumors that he might receive an offer for retirement and advisorship, the rogue Campana girl was taking steps to earn herself a throne from what had been reported.
Mmm, I've bedded a few people in my time. But you're not really royalty, anymore, dearie. Your nation was dissolved into mine. If anyone had power, it was him.
Adorable...Adorable?! Coco exclaimed and climbed on top of Devante, taking his arms and pinning them above his head. I am not adorable, and I do not care what they say, you cannot take my status away, it is who I am... Her eyes moved to the side a bit, in the past there were times where she wished she wasn't royalty..so technically didn't she get what she wanted? Still, this went farther than her, her family was on the line. Her dear parents and siblings..she had no choice but to stay strong.
And tell me, Dante, without me..what would you really do? It must get tiring being a servant, if I was your Queen I wouldn't expect you to do my mindless bidding...you would be more than that. She leaned down, moving her hand to his cheek as her eyes met his again. However, I wouldn't call you a lap dog, that wouldn't be appropriate of me as High Princess. Coco leaned down, giving Dante's neck a soft kiss which was followed by a hard bite that broke skin. I am not adorable.
Devante chuckled softly, as she pinned his arms above his head, straddling him. He let her, amusement in his gaze. Your country does not exist as a nation anymore, Princess. She was goading him, and he was thrilled. This was a side of her that he rarely saw.
Mmm, without you, I'd probably be attached to another noble woman, playing into her hands until given the kill-order. He mused, tilting his head to give her better access to his neck. So I'm quite glad that you're here; you're much more fun than my usual jobs.
He groaned under his breath, when she bit him. You're not adorable. You're a little vixen.
Coco's laughter echoed softly in the dimly lit chamber, her gaze steady as it met Devante's. A kill-order? My, my, are you attempting to frighten me? Her tone carried a hint of amusement, lips curving into a sly smirk as she observed the reactions playing across his features. And what if I said that Rivain will be a nation again? she mused, a playful glint dancing in her amber eyes.
Would you march off to the King with tales of my treason, dear Devante? Her voice dripped with mock innocence, a challenge laced within her words. Because if you don't she continued, her breath teasingly close to his ear, then maybe you aren't truly loyal to Antiva's cause after all.
