Silence, you Uneducated Peanut

Adaria took in the scene, her breath catching at the unexpected beauty of the hidden clearing. The sunlight danced over the wildflowers, the gentle murmur of the stream weaving through the air like a calming melody. She felt her chest tighten—not with the tension that had weighed her down for days, but with something warmer, something lighter.

She turned to Rafael, her lips curving into a soft smile, her voice tinged with wonder. It’s perfect. Her gaze flitted over the clearing again, as if committing every detail to memory. I can see why you come here. It’s… exactly what I needed. What we needed.

Moving to join him on the rock, she let out a sigh, the last vestiges of stress leaving her as she sank into the peace of the moment. Her shoulder brushed his, and she glanced at him with a wry grin. Though I have to admit, you’ve got me wondering how many ‘not on the map’ places you’ve got stashed away. What else have you been holding out on me, hmm?

Her teasing tone gave way to a softer one, her expression growing thoughtful. Thank you, Raffy. For bringing me here. For… She hesitated, the weight of her unspoken thoughts lingering between them. Finally, she let out a small, almost sheepish laugh. For knowing exactly what I needed when I didn’t even know myself.

She leaned back on her hands, her gaze drifting to the stream. And as tempting as it is to brainstorm new and creative ways to deal with Gio, I think I’ll pass. For now, anyway. She glanced sideways at him, her smile tugging wider. No promises for later.

For a long moment, she was quiet, listening to the breeze rustling the trees and the water tumbling over stones. And then, softly, almost as if speaking to herself, she murmured, I don’t remember the last time I felt this… at ease. It’s strange, in a good way. Her gaze returned to him, and there was something unguarded in her eyes, something rare. I didn’t think I’d find that with anyone. But here you are, proving me wrong at every turn.

Her hand brushed against his, and she let it linger. You’re dangerous, you know that? she teased, her tone light but her gaze steady. But I think I like it. Just don’t let it go to your head.

@Rafael Acosta
