Malik paused when she spoke, wondering if she need to bolt from them, wondering if he shouldn't just scoop his niece up and take her to the other room, leave now before he could do something stupid, even as he fought the urge to tilt his head down to capture her lips like he had in the alley way. How she had tasted, even as she had undulated against his body, wanton, needy, but instead her words continued, and he let the wry smile cross his face as he closed his eyes,
He shifted in the bed, rolling back up to his side as he slipped an arm back around her, pulling her back into his chest, towards the wall, so that he was between her and the door. A dual necessity -- if someone should come in, he could protect her bodily, and if she tried to bolt, she'd have to climb over him.
He could feel the tension in her body, feel her try and force herself to relax, as a hand slid up her arm, thumb and fingers working the muscles before moving higher, to her shoulder, along her neck, down her back, strong fingers working to loosen muscles and relax out that tension that rode so high in her neck. Before long, three fingers glided over the back of her neck, along her nape, into her hair line, before smoothing back down over the bones of her neck, back down her shoulder, down her arm, fingers working the circuit of her body as long as necessary to help lull her to sleep.
And once he felt her slip away into dreams, he would lay his head back down, nose to the nap of her neck, breathing in his scent on her skin, something about the way that it mingled easing his tortured mind enough to allow him, too, to slip back to sleep, with the hopes that his dreams didn't have him reliving her riding him in a dark alley way, sharp teeth on his throat, as he was certain, in his sleepy thoughts, that waking to find evidence of how badly the curse drove him to put a child in her would terrify her far greater than anything else the night had brought.

We'll see if I keep that promise or not. Believe me as much a villain as you like, Seraphine, but I won't lie to you when it involves the curse.
