Adaria let out a soft laugh, nudging Rafael playfully in the ribs with her elbow. Frame it, huh? And what, hang it on the wall of your escape spot here? ‘Officially Declared Dangerous by Princess Adaria.’ She rolled her eyes, though her grin betrayed her amusement. Don’t let it get to your head too quickly, or I might have to take it back.

Her teasing tone shifted, her smile fading slightly as her gaze dropped to their hands, still loosely connected. She took a deep breath, her voice quieter when she spoke again. But… I am dangerous, you know. My brothers—they have no idea. Not really. They don’t know what I’m capable of, or how far I’d go if I needed to. She hesitated, her fingers curling slightly against his. And maybe that used to be something I could laugh about, push people away with. But now…

She glanced up at him, her eyes steady, even as the faintest vulnerability crept into her voice. Now, I need you to stay, Rafael. So, yes. I guess I’m even more dangerous for that.

Her words hung in the air for a moment, their weight underscored by the quiet rush of the stream and the rustling of the leaves. She let out a small, shaky laugh, shaking her head. Maker, I’m terrible at this, aren’t I?

Before he could reply, she shifted closer, her hand drifting almost absentmindedly down to trace the line of his thigh. The warmth of the moment, the peace of their surroundings, and his steady presence all worked together to strip away the last of her hesitation. Her voice was softer now, tinged with a hint of mischief. You know… I can think of a few ways we can make sure neither of us gets too caught up in our heads.

She moved without overthinking, settling herself onto his lap with an easy familiarity, her arms looping around his neck. Her gaze lingered on his for a moment, her lips curving into a small smile before she leaned in, closing the space between them.

The kiss was deep, unhurried, a quiet declaration in itself. It wasn’t about making up for lost time or rushing ahead—it was about being here, now, together. As her fingers brushed lightly against the back of his neck, she felt the tension she’d carried for so long melt away entirely, replaced by a warmth she hadn’t let herself believe in for years.

When she finally pulled back, just enough to catch her breath, her forehead rested against his, and her voice was barely above a whisper. Dangerous, remember? She smirked faintly, her tone playful but her eyes warm. She drew a hand back to play with the ties of his shirt, loosening the strings keeping his gorgeous form from view. And now? You’re stuck with me, Rafael. No running.

@Rafael Acosta

Fin on you?
