Jaqueline emerged from the shadows a distance away from where she had disappeared, the dagger at the ready in her hand. Alert to the threat, her pale blue eyes carefully scanned the direction she had indicated. After a moment, she looked back at the woman in front of her and seemed to reappraise her. She nodded.
Again, with a movement that comes from years of practice, the dagger was slipped back into its scabbard - which almost instantaneously seemed to wink out of existence. As she walked toward Morrigan with silent steps, she tugged her sleeves down to meet the edges of the gloves she now wore.
She followed quietly for a bit, still vigilant for any threats around her - including from her new traveling companion. After a few minutes, her hand slipped into her bag and removed an old and worn book. It wasn't anything magical - just an old tome taken from her father's library that was full of rare and interesting information. She had read it countless times, but it never ceased to reveal new secrets. It was, of course, valuable. She held it out to the witch.
"It isn't much...but you had mentioned payment." She hated the idea of being indebted to someone she didn't know, though sometimes things like that were unavoidable. Still, there was something about this woman...Jaq wasn't sure what it was, but she could feel something in the back of her mind churning. She had long ago learned to trust her instincts on such things. "Though, if this is unacceptable I'm sure other arrangements can be made. As you pointed out, I don't have many things of value with me on this journey."
