He forced his hands to be still, wanting desperately to do something with them to stave off the nervous feeling in the pit of his stomach. What if this ruined things? What if...what if this changed the way she felt about him? He didn't really believe it would.
But it would hurt her. It would make her insides ache with a hint of the sadness he carried with him. That thought was abhorrent to him. Yet, there was no way around it.
