More times than she could count Leaf had woken up to being, well chided, by her mother at inconveniencing the Prince. How embarrassed she should feel, a grown woman drunk in his presence but it never crossed her mind. And then of course, after the scolding faded to only her memories, he’d held her till the last of her tears fell and she slipped into sleep.
She passed and as her back shielded her face, Leaf’s brow furrowed wishing she’d lingered a moment longer at the contact.
