Enzo saw the look Magnus had given, and something in the pit of his stomach turned. In a moment of clarity, he saw how tired and frail his mother looked. How broken and ashamed she really was. For the first time in a little while, he saw her perfectly for who she was. And, in that instant, he was filled with sadness for her.
Plastering on a big smile, Enzo stood.
