Her laboured breaths soon evened out while eyes followed the torrent making its way safely towards the harbour. Frowning, Leaf’s head turned towards Darktown. He’d gone there to aid the evacuations, but unlike Bethany he had no way to communicate if he needed aid. A fear gripped her belly, growing and gnawing until she managed to force herself back onto her feet. Hand plunged into earth to gain whatever grip and as she stood, Beth’s voice came through the air and dumbly she withdrew one to wave in return. Her foot slipped, but the flagging mage didn’t fall, only paused before deliberately rising to stand.
