The ground shook and the red liquid moved in ways no liquid really should. Truthfully, Byron was at a loss about it all, because now they'd touched the stuff and it'd gone mad and the mountain, volcano...whatever it was they were investigating now because Maker knew it wasn't what they had been told. Not when the goop moved away from them and acted almost alive? That was perhaps the easiest way for Byron to consider it and he tried to shove it to the back of his mind at what that might mean for them to worry about the present.
Like falling rocks, an ever increasing hole as the mountain split further and well, whatever was causing that.
Alistair yelled and Byron, without any real thought, shoved the man he'd grabbed to stop bottling the goop up to the side to keep him safe, and once that had settled down enough to think he watched Alistair look around the group before approaching the hole and then about faint at whatever he saw. Which only caused him to put a hand on his axe and pull it off and around from his back, the heft comforting in his hands as he moved in front of the fallen man, shielding him and anyone who moved to help him stand up to peer down into the hole himself, curious and also willing, as always, to take the blow if it came down to it.
And what he saw had his mouth gaping, hands clenching on his weapon tighter as if ready to swing at the red eyes that had startled the other man. Sense made him not rush towards it but he couldn't help raising his axe in a defensive stance."Anyone have thoughts on a red eyed giant that lives in mountains?"
tl;dr
- contemplates on if the goop is alive or not
- shoves Deyran out of the way of the rocks, or tries to
- pulls his axe out as he approaches the hole to look down into it after Alistair does
- Is definitely down and ready to fight the thing with red eyes, also is standing in front of Alistair and anyone who picks him up to keep them safe if the thing attacks
