Once her father — and Kazcor's — were gone, Ella visibly relaxed. She shifted her weight, studying the solar quietly, as Kazcor spoke. [q]I... no, uhm. I'm okay to go home, I was just... afraid they hadn't settled things.[q] She murmured, flashing an anxious smile toward the other woman.
[q]I wouldn't... mind, marrying sooner. I'm not fond of my stepmother. Nor is she of me.[q] She explained, as politely as she could without snubbing the woman in question.
Quiet, she reached to stroke the leaves of a nearby plant, and exhaled softly. [q]I'm sorry for causing trouble.[q] Her father had no intention of inviting them to dinner, until Kazcor had noted how she'd balked at her father's appearance.
That would earn her a beating, when she got home. But she couldn't admit that to the woman beside of her.
