Ella giggled, giddy and nervous as she was drawn towards the gazebo, and the butler was asked to bring wine. And before the last blush had left her cheeks, Kac had summoned another with the use of the word wife to describe her. And then, Kac was teasing her, offering to make a day collar for her if she was into that. And there was that word again.
Wife.
And she was giddy, and blushing furiously. But she wasn't uncomfortable... just, unused to this kind of attention. Kaczor spoke about her father, and she shifted her weight from foot-to-foot as they entered the gazebo. [q]Mmm, you're not wrong about my father.[q] She was, but Ella wasn't ready to say that. To admit that there were secrets she was hiding.
Even if she didn't want to spy on the Tilani's for her father, she needed to stay in his good graces long enough to actually marry out of her own family.
And then, she was chuckling, dark eyes studying the woman in front of her, as Kaczor tugged her hand and declared teasingly that she'd taken the only seat. [q]You're silly,[q] Ella murmured, as she took the offer to settle onto Kac's lap. Too timid to say yes, but too curious to say no...
Nobody could see them, she reminded herself. So it was okay. It wasn't like she was unchaperoned with a man. And it was even more okay because they'd be wed soon.
Kaczor didn't seem the type to follow the traditional rules of keeping a chaperone while out with ones betrothed. She wasn't going to push the issue.
[q]Mmm, I suppose you'll do.[q] She teased, adjusting herself so that she could see Kac's face, back to the entrance of the gazebo. [q]If you're trying to suss out my proclivities, you're sadly misguided.[q] Ella stated, as she toyed with Kac's fingers, still holding one of her hands.
[q]I've never... father says that virgins receive a higher bride price.[q] She shrugged, as if it were just information and nothing important. She didn't even know what her dowry was. And she wasn't too sure if there was a bride price or another dowry from her wife-to-be's family. All of these logistics, she'd never been taught about outside of the baremost basics.
