Peace in the Thunder

Rene cradled her carefully, the most precious thing in his life to him and the light in his miserable existence. For a moment they lingered in the small kitchen, the stove’s heat providing a cosy atmosphere that they would soon leave for the privacy of a bedchamber. You are, and always will be mine. If I ever treated you poorly the Gods have permission to strike me down a hundred times or more.

Shaking his head the man leaned in to rub his nose against hers. This is just a passing season, Ettie. Spring will come again, and with it our future, our dreams, let yourself be in the moment with me. Reaching up, he’d delicately brush the tears away, gaze flickering to judge a path before beginning to slowly wind them through the corridors and up the stairs. I will help you forget.. For a short while anyway. I promise you it will not be like this forever.

Taking a seat on the end of the bed, Rene kept her cradled in his lap, one hand supporting her back while the other slipped one shoe after another off, discarding them haphazardly, uncaring where they ended up. There was no way this perfect angelic being should have to ever walk anywhere. She cupped his face, drawing his full attention while his hand rested across her middle, fingers idly playing with the fabric. A gentle hum of acknowledgement came from his throat. Her kiss pulled him under the current that had developed between them since their first meeting.

He didn’t want to pull away from her, lungs burned with how long he drew it out, panting when he finally did. The world is full of terror and uncertainty, that is certainly true, but when two people share such a connection they are never truly alone. A playful smirk tugged at his lips. Now, I would not profess to be the Maker, but my dear you are my Andraste. Without you, I am a mere shell, a dry husk that no amount of water can quench.
