Nuggalopes are massive, elusive creatures that can be used as mounts. References to them predate the Divine Age, but they were long thought to be mythical until their existence was recently proven. Despite numerous historical claims, all previous evidence was debunked as hoaxes. Once discovered, it was found that nuggalopes could be tamed and ridden, although few have successfully done so.

Nuggalopes are much larger than their cousins, the nugs. They have large, curling horns, and their two-tone coloration can be grey, brown, purple, or off-yellow, often with stripes along their back. Their distinctive hand-like front paws, which researchers find fascinating, allow them to reach high branches and dunk their food in water before eating. Some researchers believe nuggalopes might use rudimentary tools, though this remains unconfirmed due to their rarity and elusive nature. Their rutting calls sound like distant thunder.
