Uncommon: Dracolisk
About Dracolisks

Unholy creatures that are seemingly the offspring of horses and dragons, dracolisks rival draft horses in height, but are characterized by their scaled skin, lizardlike tails, and draconic features. They are able to see in the dark and sprint at speeds that rival the fastest Orlesian coursers. Dracolisk teeth are especially intimidating; mice, ferrets, and pigeons are typical features of their exclusively carnivorous diet. Notably, dracolisks also possess sharp facial horns and taloned feet, making them vicious combat mounts.

Thankfully, dracolisks are not often found in the wild, and most populations are exclusively domesticated. The first known records of dracolisks come from Tevinter, but whispers place these beasts in the first cavalries of Arlathan. To ensure that modern dracolisks are suitable for battle, they have been magically and selectively bred, resulting in an animal that is stronger and larger than its ancestors. Some breeds possess unique characteristics, such as poisonous spit or an ability to breathe fire or ice.

Living up to 30 years, dracolisks otherwise resemble horses in terms of lifestyle and sociability. They prefer to live in groups, and reach maturity at around 3 years of age. Unlike horses, dracolisk females lay eggs - typically only one or two at a time.
