Giant spiders are an oversized variant of the common spider species, often encountered in ancient ruins and locations where the Veil is weakened due to magical disturbances or significant deaths. In such places, the boundary between the physical world and the Fade thins, allowing spirits and demons to influence creatures like spiders. While some scholars dispute this theory, suggesting instead that the thinning Veil causes magical energy to seep into creatures, enhancing them beyond their natural size and capabilities.
These formidable creatures are noted for their potent poisons and the ability to ensnare prey with sticky webs, rendering victims immobile unless they resist effectively. Studies on giant spiders remain limited, leaving much of their full range of abilities shrouded in mystery. Although typically solitary hunters, they can coordinate in larger numbers for ambushes, overwhelming their prey with coordinated attacks. One of their primary tactics involves web-flinging, while they also possess the ability to physically overpower and stun their victims with a barrage of attacks.
Their presence and behaviors vary widely depending on environmental conditions and the level of magical influence in their habitats, making them both a subject of fascination and caution among scholars and adventurers alike.
